How to Make Your Home Look Better

It’s all about curb appeal. It’s all about making your house the envy of the block. That’s how you increase home value the easy way. Prettying up the outside of your home and doing a little upkeep and landscaping can seem like a menial task that no one else will ever appreciate more than you – but that’s way wrong. It says a lot about the condition and care that the home has received. Use one of all six or these tips to make your house the king of the hill.

  1. If you are planting in a spot that has a very large slope to it you should make sure to grow drought-tolerant plants. This is because they are on an angle and will not hold water very well. Since they are at an angle they will be able to get access to more sunlight.

  2. Dirty walls, siding, or sidewalks? Power washing the areas can make them all look brand new again. If you’re not a DIY person, simply Google “power washers near me” to find a list of reputable companies that can do it. Ever better, find power washing bid sites to have the companies fighting over your business!

  3. If you are planting flowers, and other greenery as part of your landscaping efforts, group similar plants together. Identify plants with similar needs in terms of watering, sunlight and required soil type. This way, you can ensure that you treat all of your plants properly, and can organize your landscaping work more easily.

  4. Want to be like Uncle Jed and get a cement pond? A swimming pool is a great addition to any home and can really increase the value of property. Since pools can get expensive fast, make sure you do your homework and find a happy medium between cost and value.

  5. Make your yard look beautiful all year by creating a garden that incorporates all seasons. Choose different kinds of plants for different seasons, which are appropriate depending on the soil and region. You can even choose trees that have beautiful leaves, or evergreen trees that will keep your grounds looking beautiful all year.

  6. Prior to going to the Home Depot or Lowe’s plant nursery to purchase the plants for your landscaping project, take some good measurements of the area to be renovated. This will allow you to know exactly how much of any item you need. This helps you to not waste money on gas and time by buying too much and having to return it.
